Things You Wish you Could Really Say

Hi ________,

You suck. You suck. You suck.
OH yeah, and could you be more useless.

Thanks,
Alachia

But yeah, the world isn't that black and white. Master Phayte from bindpoint likes to claim that being the quintessential @sshole is necessary but that's just not in my nature. When your whole guild is about promoting a friendly/casual/family attitude, you kinda face dilemmas when it comes to setting standards.

You can do your best to encourage people to get better and you can write them in-game mails and whisper them about ways to improve but ultimately that's about it. Some people come around after a few weeks and some....probably never gonna happen.

So I guess that's the trade off for not having to raid with @sshole 1337 kitties who are highly prone to nerd raging, Raiding with the undead who can't be bothered to gear, learn their class, or show up.

...And people ask me why I keep saying this will probably be the last viable WoW expansion....

Last viable WoW expansion? Do you mean personally or the last viable for everyone?

I think you are near hitting it on the head, but I think you need to back up a bit.

WotLK, in all its glory, is and was the last expansion for many who have already left.

I retired my 4 80's and migrated back to LotRO, and in the past few months we have seen more than a handful of "wow blogers" hang up the live writer and move on.

I have to admit that since I left and came back to another game I love that I am more calm and do not have the pressure to push myself into a mold to min/max at the cost of having fun.

It is also great that you want to foster a friendly/casual guild environment, however the fact that a) You are on a pvp server, and b) raiding has become the end all will limit that in the wow culture.

I do hope you can continue to find the joy in the game, I do still love it myself, but don't miss what it was doing to me.

*hugs* Heal your tail off Alachia, you do rock.

@NerdNinjaMan - I suspect for me personally although I sometimes just get this way during the sustained portions of the expansion. However, I also think it might be the case for a good majority of people I play with as well...unless WoW makes some changes.

@manorton - the lull of the end game raiding is what makes it hard for people who play for social/experience driven reasons. At some point, you've "been there done that" in terms of game play and if the story or the community isn't enough to make it work....where are you? might as well be playing something that doesn't require a full time working schedule imo. I still think WoW has a lot to offer but for some reason it never caught on to story-play for me.

The whole appeal of WoW is that it's supposed to offer dynamic to our lives and experiences...not become another day job. :D
