Underbog

One word to say here: Allergies. YES. You can get allergies in this instance. It's hilarious...well sort of. I think it's awesome because of the concept. And I have bad allergies in RL so it struck me as amusing. But yeah..for like 2-3 minutes you occasionally sneeze which causes you to FALL OVER. The not so pleasant part is that it interrupts your cast and drinking. It took me 4 attempts to rez Sadin yesterday because my character was sneezing so much. hahahaha.. It was one of those weird annoyances but it made me laugh every time.
All the boss fights are super easy. And none of the junk mobs are difficult either, as long as you only pull a cluster of 4-5 at a time. Hungarfen is the big green swamp-thing looking boss. He has a talent for shitting out mushroom. We've hypothesized that he shits the seeds all around you. The next thing you know, some little mushroom is growing next to you and WHAM, you get critically nature damaged. We had damage meters reset for that boss fight and Felix was going at it like crazy. Next thing you know, Hungarfen turns around and smacks the living shit out of him. Then Felix goes "oh shit! okay okay, I'll slow down!".....but in the next second, he pulls agro again and WHAM, he's knocked out cold (aka, dead). Then he says "shit, okay...next tiime I'll stop." hahahaha.
We had a significant amount of DPS when we ran the instance last night. For fun Taint respeced BOOMkin, as they are calling it now. The bonus increase to spell damage was sick sick sick. Plus, Maebee brought her NE Shadow Priest so we had double VE (vamperic embrace, VT (vamperic touch), misery, and shadowweaveing...and on top of THAT, we had Felix's COS (curse of shadows). Holy Mother of DPS!
We finally picked up enough rep from the Spore-peeps to get the quests for the Coilfang Res Instances. So running them again last night was uber XP gain. If you didn't know, you need to be collecting those glowcaps that are like EVERYWHERE. Or at least they were EVERYWHERE until we needed them for the quest. hahaha. Also, it's good to keep collecting them because that's what the spore-men use as their currency. Unless you're on BF, in which case, don't pick the glowcaps, they're all mine! hehehe...*evil laughter*
The last boss is pretty wicked in terms of looks and abilities, The Black Stalker. He reminds of something right out of The War of the Worlds. During the fight, he'll zap you with chain lightning damage. Don't clump together or else you're sap you're party mates too. My favorite part though is when he shoots this ray at you and lifts you out of the ground into the air. You can still cast while you're up there so keep wailing on him. So far, I haven't been able to pull agro while up there...so I havne't seen it as a bad thing....just so long as the healer and tank stay within range.
We hit 64.5 last night. Tonight we finish off the rest of the gazillion Zangarmarsh quests we have. I just don't know how to stop. "All you can play buffet!" I'm telling you, it's like a MMORPG orgy out there.

Ca-ching!

World of Warcraft®: The Burning Crusade™ has broken the day-one sales record to become the fastest-selling PC game ever in North America and Europe, with a worldwide total of nearly 2.4 million copies sold in the first 24 hours of availability. The Burning Crusade, the first expansion set for World of Warcraft, was simultaneously released in North America, Europe, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia on 16 January, and on 17 January in Australia and New Zealand.

2.4mil x $40.00 = $$$erious Money

hahahahah.

Slave Pens

Friday, we ran the Slave Pens instance in the Zangarmarsh Coilfang Resevoir. Nifty little place. You basically start swimming into this resevoir in the marsh and go into this drain pipe. When you come, up you have several options as to which instance you want to run.
We did Slave Pens and Underbog this weekend. We did the first two bosses in Slave Pens as a four man (felix-warlock, taint-druid, sadin-warrior,and me-priest). Then we came upon some really shitty crowd control mobs. At that point, Boozefort joined our party and we were able to get to the last boss. Sleep, Fear lock, Seduce FTW!

I really love the entire feel and look of the area. Zangarmarsh reminds me of a beautiful ad for allergy medicine. hahah j/k. Just tons and tons of spores and blooms everwhere!! All the creatures look half allergenic and half alien! Very very lovely place to quest and do instances. Shrooms everywhere. But I mostly love how the light comes in through the tree of mushrooms and the tiny glow of radiated fungi.

Slave pen itself was massive. I didn't read the backstory at all of course. But I think it's called the Slave Pen because there are a bunch of boggish creatures used by lobster mobs as slaves. hahahah.

The boss encounters weren't hard at all. I think we found more difficulty with the 5 mob trash pulls than the actual bosses. One thing we noticed a lot was that the slaves would come and help the mobs until they died and then run away....unless they were too far away when the mob died. So if you DPS down the mob first, you won't have to deal with the slaves.

Rokmar The Crackler dropped the Coilfang Hammer of Renewal for us, same as what Drew linked in the blog reply. I passed it to Taint though since he's our main healer (druid). I mostly wear DPS gear now while we're instancing except if things get hairy or Taint dies. I also found out that if you're honored with Cenarian Expedition, you can buy this equivalent mace, Preserver's Cudgel, for 35g. Which imo, it's like a one handed benediction staff so totally worth it.

For DPS right now, I have equiped Zangartooth Shorblade. I still need a decent off-hand. Oh well, in due time.

So we turned on Damage Meters this weekend. It's a fun little mod I love. We all compete for DPS and Healing. It's kinda cool because it always kicks things up a notch. As a Shadow Priest, I do almost half as much of the healing as the Druid. My damage output (pure dmg, no dispels or healing during the fight) is sickening. I rival the warlock! Of course, once I start with dispels and having to come out of shadow form to help heal, the dps drops :( hehehe. But I find the damage output fascinating nonetheless. With COS up, full shadowweaving and misery, Felix and I slice through mobs like butter!

This is a pic of us at the last boss, Quagmirran. He humps you and shits out poison, no joke. 2.5K Nature DMG AOE. hehehe. Doesn't he look like the alien from the movie Alien? I guess a Blizz designer is into HR Giger too. Giger FTW. I love his work. I'm sure everyone knows this but if you free the NE in the cage next to him and kill the mobs that come, he'll give you a nature buff to help with the Quagimirran fight.

We also ran the Underbog a couple of times. Another kick ass instance. But I'll make a sep. post about that tomorrow. For now, this is Act I of TBC Weekend I. :)

As for the podcast.. urr..umm...how many days do you think I can not go into work and still have a job? LOL. I wish! Between trying to get to lvl 70 and working, I'll do my best! Hope everyone had a good WoW weekend!.....Monday FTL. :(

WoWaholic Relapse

I was going to make this huge post about my shadow priest today but I’ve decided to save that for the next episode. I have so much to say about her. I could gush all day really and it’s just going to sound over the top as usual :)

So instead, I’m going to make a confession here. I have been trying to avoid thinking about WoW all day today. Since TBC release, I’ve gotten an adrenaline shot for WoW. Whatever I felt about it over the last two years.....about 10x that now. I’m giddy, I’m still in shock. And most of all, it’s like I’ve been hit with a dose of WoWcrack again.

I’m so afraid I’m going to become addicted again. Actually, it might already be too late. My obsession to seeing new content, doing new quests, getting to 70, seeing the instances is growing exponentially.

All I can think about when I wake up is getting back into the Outlands. Sitting at my desk at work, I just daydream about the next instance run we’re going to do or what new things I’m going to find out about my priest abilities.

I can say one thing I’ll be mentioning in the podcast, I’m very happy I decided to roll a new toon for the expansion. There’s something nice about everything being new. Tabula Rasa! Ironically, that’s the name of the NC Soft MMORPG. Heh. It basically means starting fresh, clean, from scratch in architectural terms.

Right now, I’m fidgeting. I want to go home so badly to log in and set myself in the que. Perhaps the adrenaline and obsession will subside after TBC has been out for awhile. I guess we’ve just been so starved for long for new content that TBC is like taking someone who has fasted for the past year to an all-you-can-eat buffet. Dinner is served!!!

Netherwhelp, all that?

In response to the previous comments:

I can't wait till my CE gets here. ebgames.com FTW
Should get it tomorrow or so. Netherwhelp > all other pets

Even Mini Diablo? It blows fire! I chose the panda on my first toon, and all it did was sleep. It suited though, since I was a hunter. Guess I was expecting it to dance or something.

Diablo all the way now... on every toon.

------------------------------------------

I hope I don't offend too many people but I was really dissapointed in the netherwhelp pet. It's the same body type as the black, green, and red whelp pets already in the game. And the black whelp is the coolest by far of those.

The netherwhelp is turquoise. Why turquoise?! Any other color but turqoise! Pink? Purple? I thought you'd get a lot more choices but apparently you don't. And I really thought the body type would look more like a dragon rather than a whelp for some reason. This is one time I'm glad I didn't dish out cash for the CE. However, the soundtrack may be well worth the money itself. We'll see. Who knows, maybe when you hit level 70, the netherwhelp will grow into an adult and you can ride it for free! lol! now THAT would be worth it!

The pet I harold above all others is the PANDA. I have only seen two on my server and Kitch has one of them. I always asked him to pull the panda out during our raids. It's above and beyond adorable. The zzzzzz's can make even the most angry raider melt! hehehe. I always feel better in the game when I see one. /pat

I don't have any special CE pets or even the murloc. I do have the rare white kitten after camping lil' Timmy for two hours in SW. but it's really not so rare anymore. On my mage character, I tried to get very pet possible in the game. After that, I decided I would only have one pet per character and that pet would have to fit my class.

But I plan on talking about pets in a future episode so more on that lataz! Pandas FTW! zzzzzzz!

The Blood Furnace

We ran our second instance in TBC today. The Blood Furnace, second instance in Hellfire Citadel!
A lot more visually interesting than I've seen in a long time. I got some more upgrades....I swear, it's like everything I get one day gets replaced the next so I'm going to start carrying around a rotating backup gear set.

It's kind of nice because we're actually geared up enough now to contend with the high level tier 2 and GM geared horde.
I got me this spankin new mace! Diamond-Core Sledgemace and Bloody Surgeon's Mitts on boss drops in Blood Furnace. Since Taint is main healer on his druid right now, I've been pretty much only spot healing and throwing up shields. I do a ton of healing through vamperic embrace. So now I'm focusing more on intellect and spell damage gear. I have to hurt more to heal more! mwahahhaha. I love being both evil and good.

So far the instances have been completely doable. I like the pace a lot. We pretty much chain pull every mob until we get to the boss. I'm dying dying dying for a mage to conjure me the equivalent to draenic water because my crystal water is NOT cutting it for my flash drinking style. I had to go spend 65s per 5 stack of filtered draenic water because the other just wasn't cutting it.

Check out Felix's new staff! It's so pretty! And check out my totally psychadelic shirt and pants!!! Trippy ain't it? The offhand I'm carrying was a quest reward that gives +20 to heals and spell dmg. I bet I'll get a better one tomorrow. heheh.
Also, I dinged 61!

Something of note: You can train up your class abilities and spell EVERY level now, not just even levels. Tres cool! I learned a new smite and new flash heal...both spells I don't use much but still... At least we have something to look forward to every level!

Level 70 in 28 Hours

I know this link is going to be tossed around a million times today but thanks Jdun for posting it to me!

Gullerbone, a 24 year-old French WoW player, reached level 70 at 4:04am on January 17, 2007. He is believed to be the world's first....... read the rest of the article here http://www.pro-g.co.uk/news/17-01-2007-4522.html

He had 40 guild mates helping him around the clock but physically played the character himself the entire time. He used the mage class.

so....I play roughly 40 hours per week
say it takes me 4x as long cuz I don't have 40guild members helping me....
28x4=112 hours played for 70
112/40= 2.8 weeks (roughly three weeks with no break)

Of course, we don't have our 60-70 mapped out so it might take longer....who knows!

The TBC Lesson

If TBC has taught us anything, it's that any extra breath wasted over loot is worthless. Seriously, the second string of quests in the Outlands gives you a better helm than tier 2. And I'm just laughing at the fights people had over tier gear...no, actually I'm crying and bitter. Bitter that it had to be so sad that people became so obsessed with something so nonsensical. And that a lot of great relationships were destroyed because of it...

Today alone, Sadin replaced all of his gear for his warrior. Myself, those brown UPS pants are gone! I got the Lifegiver Britches off a boss drop in Hellfire Rampart and Pauldrons of Arcane Rage (f*cking easy instance). We were laughing our asses off because people were spamming in General Chat "LFG, Ramp 5 man, need tier 1 or tier 2 level 60-61"

We were laughing because we went in with mostly green shit, 2 level 59s, 1 58, and 2 60s. I keep wondering why it is that people don't seem to understand that it's really not about the gear so much as it is about the skill. Gear helps, don't get me wrong but you'd be suprised how much brains outdoes bronze.

Hellfire Rampart was amazing for XP. I got about 700-860xp per mob kill, 1500-2500xp per boss kill, and over 12,000xp for doing the quests associated with it. The big bonus was that there was less fighting other peeps for mobs and dealing with the lag...yup, it started to hit the lagfest a little tonight.

We're almost halfway into 60 now (/played 7 days). Making the trek to 61.

People have been making fast progress in this game. There's already two level 62s on our server. And I've seen two epic Elekks... I'm so jealous. Does anyone know if you have to get trained with epic riding skill in order to move on to learn the expert and artisan flying skill? Because if I can spare the 900g for the epic mount, I will.

My alchemy is up to 317 now. I'm short on Felweed and Dreaming Glory to keep skilling up. My Herbalism is behind because I leveled so fast I didn't have time to pick herbs along the way. Felix helped me out with my professions big time. It's good to have friends! Apparently flask of mojo is going for 20g on my server because people need it to level up jewelcrafting. I sure wish I had been smart like Boozefort and horded all the items people needed for craftin' to make some serious cash!

First day of questing and instancing in TBC has been impressively memorable. We'll be talking about it for years I'm sure.

Outlandish!

We keep thinking we should go back and do quests for Stratholme and LBRS but we just can't tear ourselves away from the Outlands. We just started doing quests in Hellfire and the XP was just too good. It was like 12,800xp here, 10,000xp there! 560xp per kill!

So many fun quests too!!! Return to the Abyssal Shelf is a hella fun quest. You get on a griffon and drop bombs on mobs!!! That was a shit load of xp too.

But we didn't want to get too ahead of our group in quests so we road to Shattrath which is a city I recommend setting your hearth too. Because from there, you can take free portals to Stormwind, Darnassus, and Ironforge. There's no AH there though.

As we road to Shattrath we saw some of the most amazing zones.

Right now we're going to attempt Ramparts..hehehe.

Staff of the Twin Worlds

We're still waiting for Taint and Felix to get the expansion. The freeze is a bitch. It's snowing and icey outside! no work for me! But I snuck into the expansion to do one itty biddy quest to get this kick ass staff! It was an easy easy quest and Sadin got a new axe out of it too. YEAH new staff! It looks cool too! Now if I can just get rid of the brown UPS shorts!

Staff of the Twin Worlds

...

Stargate BC1

It's so exciting! Like going through the stargate!!!

I'm actually glad my priest didn't make it to level 60. She is 59! The first quest I got already gives kick ass rewards that are equivalent to anything I would have gotten in lbrs or dire maul, or ubrs!

We got ganked like crazy trying to get to the Portal. But once we got through it was like this vast open ground. Everyone is running around like chickens with their heads cut off because no one know what the fuck to do or where to go. It's awesome!

Ironforge is so empty!

I did a ton of recording tonight. I have so much material to edit now. But this had been as good as I hoped it would. I'm just so amazed and excited and bravo Blizzard on doing such an amazing job!!! I had no issues with lag or que or patches. It's like butter baby!

Tomorrow we begin questing in the Outlands!

9 Hours til' TBC!

I am beyond excited about The Burning Crusade release. It’s like I’m 6 again and I believe in Santa Clause and he’s about to bring me phat lootz!

However, the weather here in Austin is getting extreme. Half of the businesses are shut down due to the weather and major ice on the road. Texans can’t handle driving in imperfect weather, that’s just a fact. Pretty much all the law firms in our building are shut down and the parking garage is mostly empty. Just us crazy architects in the building because my bosses could care less if there was a nuclear bomb exploding outside.

So I really really really am hoping I can make it out to my Game Stop at midnight tonight. A couple of people from my guild are getting their copy at the same store we are so it’ll be a fun guild get together. I’m bringing a cam. One of the guys called up the store and they said they would be open if weather permits.

I guess I’ll be up pretty late tonight either way. Either I’ll be doing instances and leveling up my priest to 60 or installing TBC.

Hopefully installing TBC!

See you in the Outlands suckas!

Addition: as you get older, there are far less things in your life to be excited about, truly excited about. Birthdays? Well, I don’t particularly get excited about getting older, I don’t know about you.... Christmas? It’s hard to get giddy about presents you know are associated with real world money and taking time off from work can be a bitch sometimes.... LOTR movies? Unfortunately that only happened three time and now its over. :D

So what’s left in life to be really excited for? TBC? Hell yeah. I know it only means something to us WoWzens but it is a huge deal. Our world, our completely immersive world is expanding and growing. For a lot of us, this means more opportunity to gain wowlife experiences. We know we’re about to get to discover vast, gigantic unbelievable places....and for someone who sits at a desk for 8-12 hours a day, this means a lot!

I keep wanting to shout out in my office, “8 more hours!! Time to party!”....but I just sit quietly here with my heart pounding...

Martin Thunder

Boozefort linked this in guild today. We thought it was pretty hilarious.
Looks like a light saber!

Ding 58! My brain is total mush. If I ever see another carrion grub, I'm going to puke! We finished up the linken's quest, finished up winterspring, western plaugeland, and eastern plaguelands and the scholo key. There's this new escort quest in Chillwind to escort the Draenei Truuen to Uther's tomb that starts with the quest The Mark of the Lightbringer. Close to 14,000xp total. And super easy!

Tomorrow we hit the instances maybe...and then at midnight...we head to Game Stop to pick up The Burning Crusade!!!!! woot! woot!

Alachia needs a well deserved nap soon!

Elven Legends

Ooh.. Ding 57. My mind is so numb. :)
That bastard Taint is still level 50. He went on a vactation to go Ski in Colorado and has not caught up yet. I think he dupped me into playing main healer. :P
hehe..

Man I hate the way my gear looks right now. I look like a UPS boy. Brown shorts? I mean, give me a break!! (see img above for proof)

but I did get this nifty little wand!
Wand of Eternal Light in BRD last night. It's a star and emits fairy dust! :D Woot! Plus the stats are tres uber!

SO, I found another quick 8300xp!
Elven Legneds
You just pick up the quest at lvl 55 in Feathermoon Stronghold and then ride out to Dire Maul. Click on the dead guy in the library and BAM! XP out the ass!

One of my favorite things to do in the game is to create wall papers for myself. I'll be sure to post all of them very soon.

WoWcast Episode 23 Notes

!
Uber frustration on my equipment as usual. My mic/headset went out and I had to use a secondary one..and well. it had its glitches which I discovered too late. There's a lot of weird burst mic boosts so please forgive me for that. I appologize immensely!

Sunken Temple Finale

So we finished up Sunken Temple today. Basically, we had to finish up everyone's class quests (feathers and blood and key gathering stuff). Then we killed the dreaming dragon, Eranikus of the Green Dragonflight.

Group Pic on the Altar of Jammal'an the Prophet

Ding 53. Tomorrow, we head to Felwood and maybe start up a BRD run.

ST Continued...

I tend to like Sunken Temple a lot because of all the dragons, especially the dreaming one, he's a good challenge. But another one of my favorite parts is when you have to open up these shrines in a certain order and everyone stands on a different platform. If you don't open it in the right order, you get attacked. hehehe. Then you drop down and fight the boss.

Ding 52! Oye...8 more to go.

Sunken Temple

WoW! My lucky night! All this phat lootz dropped for me! My spirit is now 306!! Spirit Whore FTW!

Boozefort, Maebee, Felix, Sadin, and I ran Sunken Temple tonight. We had a late start so I didn't get to complete all the quest but we're going back tomorrow. I'm just two more bubs away from 52! And as usual, the group kicked ass. Smooth as butter.

Drops:

Spire of Hakkar-http://www.thottbot.com/?i=2969

Vestments of the Atal'ai Prophet-http://www.thottbot.com/?i=5364

Featherskin Cape-http://www.thottbot.com/?i=5159

Quest Rewards For ST:

Rainstrider Leggings-http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4534

Gemburst Circlet-http://www.thottbot.com/?i=2951

The first time we ever ran Sunken Temple, we dared Sadin (his warlock) to eye of kilrog the pit. Back then, eye of kilrog didn't slow fall, so it dropped fast and caused sadin to move forward and fall through the pit and through the world. mwahahaha.. now everytime we go in there, we're like "i dare you to eye of kilrog down the pit"

Patch Notes 2.0.3

Thanks for the link Starman...
http://www.worldofwarcast.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2582#post2582

I swear, it's like whatever class I'm playing at the time never has any revamps. Nothing much for priests at all.

hahahahhaa.... and so the warlock nurf begins...

Warlocks
- Melee damage of "Felguard" has been reduced.

They can nurf everything, but not my thistle tea!!!! Nooooooooo!!!!

Items
- The energy gained from "Thistle Tea" now decreases with levels past 40.

Boozefort and Maebee

Two of my favorite people to party with is Maebee and Boozefort. They have two kids so their schedule is usually pretty filled during the weekends and most of the evenings. But it's always cool when they finally are free for a few hours and can instance with us.

I wanted to get a group photo of us in Mauradon. They wanted me to take the group photo pic in front of the penis statue but I refused.

I made them turn around and take a pic in the opposite direction. We definitely owe levels 48-50 to Boozefort and Maebee. Tomorrow we're probably going to tackle Sunken Temple with them.

Naxxramas The Movie

http://wwww.own-age.com/vids/9921

This a french production by Easy-Production by a WoW player named Jack. Sean pointed it out to me and I was up at 3am last night watching it. I was floored. I love small creative productions like this. They are so kick ass it's not even funny.
Now I must get my projector hooked up and watch this with it!

Warning: this movie will make you want to raid Nax. hehe. Cuz all the progression raiding is taken out of it. It's not realistic in terms of how epic raiding really is but good lord it's dead on with the emotional high of downing a boss.

Truly fucking awesome shit. Go watch it now!

WoWcast Christmas Audio

Okay, Here's the small recording I made over Christmas with my Iaudio and new microphone of our xmas review from Taint (tai), Sadin, and Felix.

It's short and non-eventful. See if you can hear someone playing with a nurf dart-gun in the background.

Are We There Yeti?

Ding 50. Vampiric Touch FTW! I'm loving loving loving the priest. Shadow Mages are the shit. This weekend we covered tanaris, hinterlands, searing gourge, ferelas, stv, ZF, Maura, and badlands. 10 days to BC, 10 levels to go.

Things I learned:
1. Shadowpriest + Warlock = complete destruction
2. Priest will get 10+ whispers an hour for instance runs
3. Why Heal when you can do damage and heal at the same time!
PWP (power word pain)+ VE (vampiric embrace) + MF (mindflay)+ occasional renew
4. Flash Drink Flash Drink Flash Drink!

Now that I have VT (vampiric touch), I suspect I'll have to drink less.

okay....time for more Un'Goro!

p.s.

I also learned a few months ago that you can mount on the boat for easy take-off.
you just have to find the sweet spots. there are about 4. One on the box, one on the netting, one on the stairs, and one at the edge of the boat. :D

Splintertree Cave

Thanks for this pic Balooja! It's gorgeous. If you're horde, see his email below to how to check this out!

--------------------------------------------

This is Balooja, don't know if you remember me but I had asked about
preparation for TBC.

Anyway, I was on a horde alt questing in ashenvale and while in splintertree I saw a
strange cave that I had never seen before. With the hope that there were some good
quests inside I went in to explore every inch of the passages.

I didn't find any quest-givers but I did find the most beautiful screen that Ive
ever seen through my year of playing WoW.

I took a picture of it and set it as my desktop background (yes, its that awesome).

Well its at the back of the cave in Splintertree and would be hard to find if you
dont have a 15-20ish horde alt. If you go to the cave in town, go in, and take a
right at the fork you can't miss it.

Ive attached a screen shot of it in the highest quality I can muster, enjoy =)

50/50!

So my goal is to hit 50 by Sunday. I'm level 45.5 as of last night. Our static party is chaotic right now.
Taint is going on a ski trip from Saturday-Wednesday. Felix went on a 4 day nookie run this past weekend and has 4 levels to catch up to us. Sadin and I work the longest hours so we have to keep treking because the other two can easily catch up. Felix is off from school until the 12th and Taint levels like the wind without us (6 days played on his warrior).

What to do? Where to go? ST run is in order. Maura run is in order.

I can't wait to get to my favorite questing zone. Un'Goro Crater! It's Sadin's most hated questing place and my favorite. So whenever our party goes there, my visit there always gets rushed. heh. I remember the first time I saw Rex. I almost shat my pants. The ground shaking...

60 or bust! Well, I think my odds are better than 50/50!

Cafe Do Brasil

Just got back from a two hour lunch. The bosses are out of town so all the lads and gals (9 of us) here opted to go to a small brazillian restaurant just a block away. Perks for working downtown. Its located at 200 San Jacinto Blvd. Next to PF Changs, Mongolian BBQ, and the gay bar called CockPit.

It was quiet colorful little place owned by a guy named Renato. He was hilarious. AND he gives all of his customers free potent alcoholic capreneas. I'm not sure what it had in it. Sugar, lime, and some serious alcohol. I took two sips and gave the rest to my co-worker.

We sat outside. it's like 70s in Austin today. Really, Really awesome day.

Renato comes out and says "okay. what we gonna do for you today? I have enough food for 50 people. I know it's only 10 of you but I have enough for 50. I gotta black bean soup with rice and collard greens with a touch of bacon and sausage served with a fresh slice of orange. okay. how many of you want that?!" we all raise our hands.

"you see, I treat all my customers like family. I don't need no advertisements. You treat them good, they always come back."

he even gave us free deserts. a tray full of flan, figs, tres leches, and rasberry fudge cake.

"obrigado, renato!" - that means thank you in portuguese

I think I'll be stopping there for lunch more often.

While we were waiting for the check, a woman comes up with a video recorder asking if any of us wants to be in a documentary for the sundance film festival 2008. The documentary was about Christians and Homosexuality.
Makes sense as we were right next to the Cockpit.

None of us really had any commentary for her but she did interview one of my co-workers because he was a messianic jew.
He's a funny guy and was very tongue and cheek about the whole thing. It was all very spontaneous.

Sorry, none of this has to do with WoW. BUT as I was standing in the small little Cafe Do Brasil checking out the red walls, the colorful bottles of water on the tables... there was this kid sitting at table. And as I was leaving to go sit outside with my group, I heard him say something about hunters and attack power and I kind of stopped in my tracks. Then I thought it would be rude to listen in on his convo so I walked on by.

heh. kinda WoW related... oh well. I tried. Getting back to work after these types of lunches is almost impossible.

Base Jumping

Northern Ferelas:

At the top of east peak of The Twin Colossals is Kalin Windflight (lvl 60 humanoid) who you can buy a Colossal Parachute from for 20 silver. Then you base jump off the cliff and pray you don't land on they elite dragonkin below. There's not point to it. It's just fun as hell.

WoW4Life vs TxDot

So I emailed the Texas Department of Transportation to see if WOW4LIFE was available to use as my license plate.

This is the formal response:

oh well.

what about this?

hahahahaha.. LAME!

Let the QUEs begin!

I guess I should have expected it to happen. Back when AQ opened up and raiding sparked a whole new life to the game, our ques were sometimes 10 minutes long. We're a medium pop server so we're just not used to having ques. After the raiding game kind of died, the ques died with it.

Now that BC is only 12 days away, the ques are starting back up. This Saturday when we tried to log in, I remember hearing Taint yell "WTF!!!??? There's a que!!!" Since then, every time I have logged in, there has been a que. Luckily at this point, they don't last longer than a 3 minute wait. I suspect this number will grow as the day between now and BC grow shorter.

I don't blame the renewal of log-ins and account activations. I'm already getting that headrush I got in November back when we all thought it was coming out Nov 28. It's odd really. I used to kind of have this feeling before Christmas when I was a kid. That subtle stir of excitement in your heart..the anticipation...the last time I felt something like this was waiting in line to see Star Wars Episode I, Phantom Menace. AND WE ALL KNOW HOW THAT TURNED OUT! :P

I'm hoping I won't be disspaointed like that ever again.

So, how many of us will be standing in lines (late for work or class) at the Game Stop, Best Buy, or Fry's on the morning of the 16th because we all PRE-ORDERED our copes of BC? :D I know I will.

Oh, and don't try to fool yourself into thinking you won't be waiting in a 400 que to get on your server that day. This is going to be huge!

12 more days!!!

That's why they call me stallion!

This weekend, Taint, Sadin, and I hit level 40. (we're 44-45 as of tonight). It was about 4am when we finally arrived at Menethil Harbor to buy them. I remember the first time I ever saw someone riding a black stallion (hold the jokes) in Ironforge. I was like NO SHIT!??? I spam asked the person where they got the black horse until they told me. I was like, Hey guys! Did you know you can get a black horse???? They were shocked too.. this was over a year go btw. Felix and I have a thing for the color black.

Ever since then, I've been dying to finally get one. Now we all finally ride in black!
Felix will too since he'll have the dreadstead cuz he's a warlock.

Hmmm...now I just have to find an all black outfit to go with it.. too bad the priest gear is all white and turquoise.

Flight of Dragons

sweeeeet! thanks for the link Sangai!

There was a time between the waning age of enchantment and the dawning age of logic when dragons flew the sky free and unincumbered....

Life without computers

The week we spent in Boremont was same as usual. A lot of the whole family holiday shuffle and a lot of wondering around with nothing to do. I mean, there's only so many excuses you can come up with to go to Best Buy.

Thursday, we (felix, taint, sadin, and i) were so bored. We had lunch at a Mexican restaurant and talked about old cartoons. Sadin got Dungeons and Dragons (the cartoon series) for xmas. We were talking about upcoming movies this year. Transformers was definitely a big one...and that's how we got into talking about old cartoons. Some of the favorites mentioned were Transformers, He-Man, Shera, G.I. Joe, Mask, Silver Hawks, D&D, The Adventures of Johnny Quest, etc.... And I totally go stuck on one that I couldn't remember. But thanks to cool websites like http://www.80scartoons.net/, I was able to figure out it was called Jayce and the Monster Minds....

It was funny. I was like... "it had something to do with plants, just lots of plants and everything was organic....man...something to do with plant like monsters....what is it?! i know it! what is it?"

The plot goes like this: The plot concerns Jayce, son of Audric, and his quest to rejoin him. The backstory is that Audric was a botanist who did several experiments with biotechnology, one of which blossomed and became a young humanoid girl named Flora. Audric had also created a miracle crop that could thrive in any environment and end galactic hunger....---http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jayce_and_the_Wheeled_Warriors

Anyhow, when we got back to my parents house, we were still pretty bored. So we did what all people do when there is no computer around, the dreaded "OUTDOOR ACTIVITY"!!! lol. yeah. we tossed around a nerf football in the back yard. I actually have a pretty good arm. If i had been a guy, I would have been the QB. LOL. Anyhow, playing both the offensive and defensive team at the same time only lasts so long....After all, we're geeks. we normally only excercise our mouse hand. (save the jokes).

so we went inside and that old movie Krull was on tv so we started watching that. it's a classic fantasy movie incase you guys have never seen it. pretty kick ass for its time. Back in the 80s, a couple of really good fantasy movies came out....and then nothing again until Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy. (i'm praying for the hobbit). Anyhow, I remember totally drooling over the Glaive (weapon) when I first saw it. I even made my GM put it in the game when we were playing Earthdawn just so I could have it in some sense.

After that, we went out to eat and came back and started watching the Dungeons & Dragons cartoons. Remember Uni and Dungeon Master? LOL. It's pretty cool. The dvd came with a booklet with all the characters and their stats.

Needless to say, when we got back to Austin this weekend, we began our WoW expedition. The big push to 60 before BC. I'm playing a shadow priest. It's awesome. The power of the mage but I can also heal myself. mwhahahaha. This weekend we pushed from 36-43.5. Hopefully tonight we'll be 44.25. heh.

I'm just so glad to have my black stallion!! Mounts FTW! Now I just need to get Felix to put my spurs on.
